Low Income Home Energy Program (LIHEAP)

The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEA), also known as the Low Income Home Energy Program (LIHEAP), accepts applications for help with heating bills or cooling assistance from October 1st to April 30th of the following year. Applications may be requested by emailing HomeEnergy@bccap.org or picked up at the BCAP Dickens Community Center, 1 Van Sciver Parkway, Willingboro, NJ. 08046. Applications are also available on-line at www.energyassistance.nj.gov

Households that completed a three-page application at the LIHEAP office may receive a blue one-page recertification form based on eligibility the prior year. This may be submitted in place of the normal three-page application. However, proof of income for the thirty days prior to application and a current heating bill must accompany the form. If there has been a change in address or household members, a complete application may be required

Certain SNAP (Food Stamp) households may be granted an energy benefit automatically based on their food stamp case. If you did not receive an automatic check, you may request and file an application with the LIHEAP office. All verifications must be provided to the LIHEAP office with your application.

Applications are processed in the order they are received. Please allow 60 days for processing. You will receive a blue notice from the State of New Jersey when processing has been completed. Applications submitted without all documentation requested on the second page of the application booklet will be denied.
